RTV-2 Mold (PLATINUM ADDITION CURED) is an odorless and non-toxic material that has a simple 1:1 ratio and can be used without a vacuum chamber due to its low viscosity. It creates a flexible and elastic material in a translucent beige/off white color with high tensional and tear strength.
There is minimal shrinkage (0.1%) and it provides excellent reproduction of fine detail. As an addition/platinum cured rubber, it offers superior chemical and heat resistance (250°C) compared to tin/condensation cure rubbers, resulting in a longer mold life.
Both PART A and PART B are clear liquids that are odorless and non-toxic. They mix easily in a 1:1 ratio and can be used without a vacuum chamber due to their low viscosity.
The pot life of this product is around 8-12 minutes and the cure time is 1-2 hours for the medium and soft versions. The extra soft version has a pot life of 10-20 minutes with a cure time of 2-4 hours. It is available in three hardnesses: extra soft, soft, and medium.
The soft version is recommended for delicate and fragile items where the rubber needs to be flexible to peel off without causing damage, while the medium version is suitable for most cases. This product is not intended for use with food; for a suitable alternative, please click here. This product may irritate the skin, so it is not recommended for direct application to human skin for life casting. Click here for a more appropriate product. The highest temperature at which it can operate is 250°C. To access high temperature rubber, click here.
A release agent is necessary for creating a two-part mold or molding a glass object. To learn more, click here.
By using a softening additive, it can be softened according to your preferences.
It can be made thixotropic to be applied on vertical surfaces or overhead objects. Click here for more details.
It has the ability to be pigmented in a wide variety of colors. Click here for more information.

– Polyurethane resin- Epoxy resin * (* Excl. some epoxies, check with supplier of the resin if silicone molds are suitable.) Polyester resin- Acrylic resin- Plastisol (PVC)- Plaster- Cement- Polymer clays (Will inhibit the cure of liquid platinum silicone, see below)- Waxes- Soaps- Metals with a pouring temperature below 250°C
CURE INHIBITION
A release agent is not sufficient to prevent cure inhibition, but a layer of paint can. If the paint is solvent-based, make sure the solvent completely evaporates to prevent inhibition.
Great care is needed when handling and mixing addition-cured silicone elastomer systems. All mixing tools should be clean and made of materials that do not interfere with the curing process. The cure of the rubber can be inhibited by various compounds and materials, so be cautious when handling. The cure of the rubber can be inhibited by the presence of compounds of nitrogen, sulphur, phosphorus and arsenic; organotin catalysts and PVC stabilisers; epoxy resin catalysts and even contact with materials containing these substances e.g. moulding clays,
